At St. Edmund’s, our life together is shaped by the Benedictine tradition—an ancient way of Christian living rooted in prayer, stability, and community. Following Saint Benedict of Nursia, we order our common life around a sacred rhythm of worship, work, and fellowship, trusting that Christ is present in all things.
Prayer at the Center
Our life is grounded in the Holy Eucharist—the source and summit of our faith—and in the Daily Prayers of the Book of Common Prayer, itself deeply shaped by the Benedictine rhythm of prayer. In Morning and Evening Prayer, this pattern of devotion is made accessible to all, forming us in Scripture, worship, and the life of Christ.
Stability and Belonging
We seek to remain faithful — rooted in God, committed to one another, and invested in our life in Milwaukee and throughout Southeast Wisconsin. "A tree often uprooted does not easily grow." -St. Gregory the Great.
Hospitality as Grace
All are received as Christ. Whether you are new to faith or returning, you are welcomed not only to attend, but to belong.
Ora et Labora
In the Benedictine vision, all of life is offered to God. Work, prayer, and daily life become means of grace as we learn to live with gratitude and purpose.
A School for the Lord’s Service
As a sacramental congregation, we are formed through reverent liturgy, discipline, and devotion—often expressed through chant, ceremonial, and the beauty of holiness—growing together into the likeness of Christ.
